Surgical Laser

Blaine Area Pet Hospital has the option to use a surgical laser.

The laser is used in place of a surgical blade. The advantages of the surgical laser are:

  • Reduced pain=The laser seals nerve endings and severed nerves as it incises through tissue.
  • Reduced bleeding=Small blood vessels are sealed during surgery, thereby reducing the amount of bleeding your pet experiences.
  • Reduced Swelling=The laser beam penetrates the tissue and effectively seals the lymphatic vessels responsible for post-operative swelling.
  • Reduced risk of infection=As the laser beam penetrates diseased tissues, the high surface temperature effectively eliminates existing microorganisms, resulting in a sterile surgical environment.
